PIVOT is Patient-centric Innovative Vision hOme Testing.

The STSI mobile application for The Pivot Study facilitates the identification and enrollment process of appropriate individual patients and healthcare professionals in a clinical trial. The PIVOT research study focuses on use of another mobile medical application (called the myVisionTrack®, or mVT™, application) which is used to monitor a patient’s vision at home. You or a loved one may have already been (or could possibly be) selected as a possible participant in this study because you are being treated for diabetic macular edema (DME) or neovascular agerelated macular degeneration (nAMD) and are receiving injections of Lucentis® from your ophthalmologist.

The Pivot Study will determine whether patients can use the mVT™ mobile medical application on a smart phone (Apple iPhone®) or digital tablet (Apple iPad® or Apple iPad Mini®) to monitor their vision at home. The goal of the study is to determine the feasibility of involving patients in monitoring their visual function at home using the mVT™ application. The study will also evaluate how comfortable patients are using the mVT™ application and will assess your ophthalmologist’s thoughts on home vision monitoring using this application.

The Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) aims to replace the status quo of one-size-fits-all-medicine with individualized health care that is based on the known genetic factors influencing health and disease and that leverages advances in digital (and mobile) technology for realtime health monitoring.
